Coach Lou Perrone and his staff over at My Recruits saw a need, and they filled it.

Coach Perrone saw a young man working out on a Twitter video. Perrone sees this all the time being in the recruiting business. But this, this was certainly different than what he usually sees.

Andrew Lopez is a junior that plays offensive line and defensive line for the Carl Hayden Falcons football team in Phoenix, AZ who also happened to be the young man in the workout video. The video, which can be seen as his pinned tweet on his Twitter, @AndrewLopez77, shows Andrew’s true commitment and passion for the game of football.

Lopez can be seen doing the squat exercise with a metal bar that has a heavy chain on each side of it. His tweet says, ‘No school gyms. No nearby gyms. Just using what’s in my environment.’ #NoExcuses.

No excuses indeed.

What that meant for Coach Perrone and his staff, was that they saw a need and that they needed to fill it.

In no time, Coach Perrone, Tony Harrington, Todd Olson, Dave Yanak, all of My Recruits, as well as donor Scott Craddock, Carl Hayden Head Coach Steven Arenas and Akelynns Christian Academy Head Coach J.R. Knight came together and were able to purchase and deliver an amazing weight lifting setup to Lopez.

Talk about a servant mentality!

I caught up with Lopez and he was blown away by the gesture. “It was amazing to be able to accept this,” Lopez said. “It truly is a Blessing. I’m excited to use it. Excited what it will do for me and will bring to me. I can finally work harder and get stronger like I would like to.”

“I’m just so thankful for My Recruits and the donors. I now have the chance to get bigger and this will help me get to the next level. I’m also thankful to my own coaching staff. I don’t know where I would be without them.”

Lopez’s Head Coach Steve Arenas, was also very thankful of the selfless gesture. “Coach Perrone went above and beyond; he completely went out of his way to help this young man out. This really says a lot about Coach P and who he is as a man. I cannot say enough about him or his staff.”

Lopez is a great kid. He’s a very humble kid. He is gifted and talented. We just dropped it off to him and he was blown away. He was working out in his backyard, but he now has the ability to do all he wants with this equipment.”

My Recruits is certainly a wonderful group, led by Coach Lou Perrone
