Tyrone Wheatley & Morgan State Hot on AZ Recruiting!

The name Tyrone Wheatley is one many football fans are very familiar with! With 10 great years in the NFL and one of the most successful high school/college careers in Detroit, Michigan history, this multi-sport All-American knew what needed to be done when it came to getting recruited. Accepting a full scholarship to the University of Michigan, this football/track star knew how to get it done at the collegiate level. Tyrone  was a first round draft pick of the New York Giants in 1995 making one stop with the Miami Dolphins in 1997 before signing with the Oakland Raiders in 1999 where he took care of business! Wheatley led the team in rushing three times and totaled close to 7,000 all-purpose yards before retiring in 2004.

Tyrone Wheatley immediately knew coaching was his calling and in 2007 returned home to his high school alma matta in Deerborn Heights, Michigan, Robichaud High School where he took the Head Coaching job. After one year at the high school level, Tyrone decided to coach the Running Backs for three great Universities, Ohio Northern (2008), Eastern Michigan (2009) and Syracuse (2010-2012). In 2013, an opportunity to get back into the NFL, this time as a Coach, was something that Tyrone Wheatley could not pass up. A rough year for the Buffalo Bills under Doug Marrone with a 6-10 record, but Running Backs Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller together combined for almost 2,000 yards in the Buffalo backfield. An opportunity in 2015 to coach Running Backs at his alma matta, the University of Michigan, was a dream come true. The Wolverines has a record of 10-3 that year and finished 12th in the AP POLL.

Wheatley went back into the NFL in 2017 and coached with the Jacksonville Jaguars before accepting the Head Coaching Job with Morgan State University. The Morgan State Bears are a Division 1 FCS Team in the MEAC Conference who needs no introduction. This HBCU has a beautiful 10,000 seat facility in Baltimore, Maryland. As Coach Wheatley enters his first full season, he is not letting the Pandemic and Quarantine slow down his recruiting!

Here at My Recruits, Myself and my staff have been bless with the opportunity to work with Coach Wheatley and have seen the hours and endless effort he is putting in to finding Morgan State the best all-around talent to compete for a championship. Coach Wheatley has attacked the entire country from a recruiting standpoint but most recently has put a lot of effort into the great underclassman that Arizona has to offer.

This week, 5 My Recruits players were offered by Morgan State; 6’4 Class of 2023 Mountain Ridge stand-out Wide Receiver, Deric English, 2023 Liberty Football Running Back Zaccheus Cooper, 2022 Casa Grande Quarter Back Angel Flores, 2021 Chaparral Offensive Lineman Mason Osborn and 2021 Desert Edge Offensive Lineman Jayden Ahboah. In a conversation between Coach Perrone and Coach Wheatley, Coach Wheatley confirms that he is 100% committed to bringing in top level Recruits from around the country and Arizona is proof to be high on his list.

We here at My Recruits are looking forward to working with the great Coach Wheatley and the Historical Morgan State University Bears Program and restoring it to glory which is exactly Coach Tyrone Wheatley will do!
