MY RECRUITS PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Kyle Schumann
Schumann is a versatile kid across the board playing QB and LB. The Philly kid sizes up with a strong, athletic build at 6’0” 210lbs. He puts up strong numbers in the wright room with a verified 335 bench and 435 squat, and transitions it to functional strength on the field. He’s a hard, downhiller runner with solid balance to stay up and keep momentum forward after initial contact, as they love to run QB powers with him. He’s a playmaker with the ball in his hands with the ability to extend plays and make something happen. At LB, he shows solid play recognition and does a good job disengaging off blocks to blow up plays.
Schumann is a very competitive kid on the field, in the wight room, and in the classroom. He was on the honor roll at Northeast High He blocks out adversity with hard work, as he is a gritty kid to have on your team. He’s a big time gym rat as he spends his offseason glued to the gym and improving functional strength. His determination and willingness to grind out situations gives his a strong upside.
He’s a transfer going into his junior year and he strives to develop a tight knit bond with his teammates and coaches. His coaches and teammates are excited for him to get to work and help build that winning program at Northeast. In just a 4 game sophomore season, Schumann racked up 600 total yards and 5 TD’s with 21 tackles, 3 forced fumbles and 1 sack on defense, and he’s just getting started. He projects to have a strong junior year and turn some heads in the near future.
