MY RECRUITS PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: GAVIN HIGLEY

Gavin+Higley.jpeg

Higley sizes up with a strong, athletic frame at 6’1” 210lbs and is as versatile as a TE comes. He can line up as a down TE, off-set TE, or split out as a slot. He shows a good football IQ to identify the soft spots in zone coverages to sit or look for the ball quick. He shows good physicality as a route runner to initiate just enough contact to avoid those PI calls to generate separation, and is physical after the catch as well. Higley is a solid blocker in the run game from various formations, and really displays his functional strength. After speaking to several college coaches, Coach Perrone from My Recruits states “he’s a true 2-way star. I’ve spoke to many DB coaches that see him as a Safety at the next level.” Perrone goes onto add “I’ve personally seen him standing broad jump 115 inches.”

Higley helped Chaparral win the 6A Title last season, and was a factor in a very explosive Chap offense. He’s a gritty kid and will fight through adversity, and will not back down from anyone he lines up against no matter the caliber of player. He’s a big time gym rat in the offseason, so you can expect him to continue to put on muscle mass and add strength.

His speed and quickness with his frame is what separates him from competition and makes him a mismatch. He’s continued to progress, as he recently won MVP at the AZ Combine. He’s a 3-sport athlete as he plays basketball and track as well. The upside with Higley is his skillset and athleticism gives him the ability to fit in literally any offensive scheme. If he’s not on your radar, he needs to be ASAP, because this kid has the potential to blow up in 2021. Gavin is also a member of the prestigious Team Impact 7on7 and new member of the My Recruits platform.
