Rocky Mountain Man: Dominic Butts
Dominic Butts is a hard-nosed lineman that plays both sides of the ball with wreckless abandon! He is as tough an Offensive Tackle as he is a Defensive End. Dominic attends Severance High School in Severance, Colorado. He has a non-stop motor that separates him from the competition. Dominic has great size at 6’5, 240 and a very long wingspan that allows him to put his hands on his opponent and gain separation immediately. Dominic loves to be challenged by his coaches and always rises above.
Dominic is versatile enough to play in a 4-3 or 3-4 scheme and can adapt to any situation presented. He responds to adversity and uses it to excel further. Dominic was voted by his peers as co-lineman of the year and All-State on defense. He’s a 3 year varsity starter and will be a 4 year varsity letterman. He plays other sports when not on the gridiron. Dominic lettered in wrestling 2 years and is a team captain this year.
Statistically, Dominic led 2A for the state of Colorado in sacks (14.5) last year and third in all levels. Dominic had 25 tackles for loss, 43 total tackles, two fumble recoveries and a pass deflection.
This past off-season, Dominic attended numerous camps and networked with many coaches. He attended San Diego State, Nebraskas, Nebraska-Kearney, Drake, Wyoming, Chadron, Kansas State, and Colorado State football camps. He has worked hard to get on many coaches’ radars, constantly seeking input to get better at his trade.
Academically, Dominic is a solid all-around student. He is a 3-year Academic All-State Honorable Mention and scored 1000 on his SAT. He is interested in a chemical engineering major and wants to find a school that meets his needs both academically and athletically.
